I have an odd fascination with old pitchers, and they don’t get much older than Greg Maddux (41) and Jamie Moyer (44) who face off today. It’s fun to watch two pitchers well past their prime throw slow stuff and still get hitters out. The older Maddux isn’t nearly as good as Jacob Peavy though. This is also a big game in the NL wild card race, as the Phillies are two games behind the Padres.

OTHER BIG MLB GAMES:

NY Yankees at Detroit, 4 p.m. The Tigers begin this 4-game series after two disappointing losses to the Indians.

LA Dodgers at NY Mets, 4 p.m. A rematch of the 2006 NLDS. But that series wasn’t terribly exciting.

Atlanta at St. Louis, 5 p.m. The Cardinals drive their fans crazy.

Chicago Cubs at Arizona, 6:30 p.m. A League of Her Own has a post with some great analysis about the Cubs. Brilliant. (EDIT: I fixed it to say “A League of Her own”. Thanks Becky!)

Toronto at LA Angels, 7 p.m. Halos Heaven is already comparing this season to 1995. I just threw up thinking about that season.

Hey G, that wonderful site is called “A League of Her Own.” I wouldn’t want Cubbiejulie or her minions coming after you for that!

LOHO not only has all the Cub news and analysis, it’s funny as hell. And they have the best NL Central standings chart ever!

Fixed. Thanks Becky. I just discovered LOHO yesterday, and I’m impressed so far.
