Labor Day

It’s Labor Day, so I’m taking the day off.

Appalachian State beating Michigan was my sports highlight of the weekend — but I also wonder how this will affect the future of college football. Will I-A teams stop scheduling I-AA teams? Fat chance, but they’ll stop scheduling the I-AA powerhouses.

Will the powerhouse I-AA teams like Appalachian State try to join I-A? They should — and kick out the Sun Belt’s worst teams in the process.

Michigan will recover — it’s just one game. I wonder how the pollsters will treat Michigan if they start winning — my guess — that loss will barely matter if Michigan beats Oregon, Notre Dame and Penn State.
