Jared Lorenzen is back! (maybe)
September 12, 2007
Those of you who are long-time readers of OSQ know that I have a weird fascination with overweight athletes.
Well, it seems like about 99% of fat athletes are baseball players (and most of those are pitchers). There is one notable exception though: Jared Lorenzen, who may soon be the Giants’ starting quarterback.
This has to happen. Really, it does.
It would be amazing if the starting quarterback for one of the nation’s most overhyped teams were a big-boned guy like Jared Lorenzen. The potential storyline of Lorenzen keeping his job after overhyped Eli Manning comes back could be the greatest NFL story of the year.
Not only are athletes supposed to be in excellent shape, but NFL players are supposed to be to cream of the crop. Lorenzen may be on the heavy side, but he sure can throw. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Lorenzen play in college at Kentucky, where he replaced Tim Couch and set tons of UK records. Apparently, he’s gotten significantly better since then. Here’s to Lorenzen leading the Giants to playoffs and Eli Manning sitting on the bench to watch it.
