Sports this weekend

One of the many things I like about college football Saturdays is Lou Holtz. The man is rarely insightful and says so many things that don’t make sense, but I love listening to Lou because of his old-timer personality, his charm and his voice.
Here’s a video clip of Lou Holtz during Wednesday’s Navy-Pittsburgh game (Hat-tip to Awful Announcing):
Anyone else see that Navy-Pittsburgh game? I tuned in for the fourth quarter and overtime and thought the game was exciting — it’s always fun to see the service academies beat a school from a BCS conference, especially in a high-scoring game that goes into overtime.
Here’s what sports are on TV this weekend (baseball and football only, I couldn’t find any basketball or hockey on national TV, and I don’t really follow auto racing, tennis, golf or European soccer): All times Pacific.

OK, this is getting ridiculous. I’ve never seen anything like this. The Colorado Rockies won Game 1 of the NLCS Thursday night, 5-1.
How does a team stay around .500 for almost a whole season then reel off 18 wins in 19 games in the most important part of the season?
This is mind-boggling. It’s also extremely fun to watch.
I’m looking forward to the rest of this series much more than I am the ALCS. I know I’m probably the only non-Rockies or Diamondbacks fan to say that. I just want to see how much longer the Rockies can keep this up.
