Let’s go Rockies!

paptek.jpgLet’s go Rockies!

That pretty much sums up what I’m feeling after Game 7 of the ALCS, which the Boston Red Sox won 11-2.

I do dislike the Red Sox (partly because I’m an Angels fan), but it’s not like I hate them with a passion. I say “Let’s go Rockies!” because the Red Sox have become another version of the Yankees. They’re dominant in recent years, they go out and spend money like it’s not an issue, and they’ve become over-hyped by major media. I don’t see how anyone who’s not already a Red Sox fan could possibly be rooting for the Red Sox in this series.

The Red Sox have all the history.
The Red Sox have the marquee players.
The Red Sox have to be the favorites.
The Red Sox have that really long World Series drought of three years.
The Red Sox have many annoying fans (I’m sure every team does, but there’s more Red Sox fans, meaning there’s more annoying Red Sox fans. Who doesn’t have an annoying Red Sox fan as a friend or acquaintance?)

The Rockies are a blank slate for most baseball fans. There’s nothing about them to hate, unless you’re a bitter Phillies, Diamondbacks are Padres fan.

The World Series starts on Wednesday.

Let’s go Rockies!

Maybe you should look up facts before you write this %%%%.

The Red Sox have a budget. We CANNOT just go and get anyone we want for any amount of money and if we could A-Rod would be here. The Red Sox refused to pay an extra 16 million to get him because it wasn’t in their budget.
We didn’t go out and get Todd Helton at the trade deadline like we wanted too because if cost too much so don’t EVER compare us to the Yankees because you don’t have a clue what the hell you are talking about.

You cannot compete with the Yankees in this division if you don’t spend money and your Angels only a few years ago had a payroll at over 100 million dollars. So you shouldn’t talk especially when your team is one of the teams willing to pay A-Rod 40 million a year.

Where do you get this over hyped crap. Do you watch ESPN.? We also had the best record in baseball so any hype we get we deserved this year.

Arte Moreno has hinted several times that he has no intention of paying $30 million a year for a player. They went after Soriano and offered him $100 million, but wouldn’t offer as much as the Cubs. The Angels have a really high payroll, but it’s not nearly as high as the Red Sox, and the Angels have few big contracts locked up long-term.

Was cost really the only reason they didn’t trade for Todd Helton? I hadn’t heard that.

Yes, the Red Sox did have the best record, but they were tied with Cleveland, and only a few games ahead of the Yankees and Angels … guess which two of those four were hyped the most? (Not just by ESPN, but other media outlets too.)

You’re the favorite — there’s no shame in that. Embrace it. It means you have a good team. Have fun if you win the World Series. Just understand the rest of us are rooting against your team. It happens.

When you have the 2nd highest payroll in the league, you are facing a team with a payroll in the bottom fourth of the league, yet you are the one complaining about a small budget…just remember what happened the last time Boston won ALCS game 7 at home.

At this rate, most of the nation is going to be rooting for a ball to go through Ortiz’s legs when he plays in Colorado for a surprising Rockies win, just because they’re getting sick of the Red Sox.

And I remember when I had sympathy for Red Sox fans.
