Mitchell Report day: My thoughts and predictions
December 13, 2007
Today is the day many people have been waiting for. In a few hours, the Mitchell report will be released.
I’m not entirely sure what the Mitchell report will do, other than give us a list of names of people who did steroids or HGH. How does that really help today’s game? Don’t get me wrong, I definitely want tougher steroid/HGH testing and tougher punishments. I just don’t know what a report on what players did in the past will accomplish.
There are already multiple posts on blogs devoted to the release of the Mitchell report and predicting which players will be named as steroid/HGH users. (Check out Baseball Think Factory, Center Field, Deadspin and The Big Lead).
My guesses:
David Eckstein
David Wells
Bartolo Colon
Tony Gwynn
Scott Podsednik
Juan Pierre
I am so going 6-for-6.

Nice prediction. I can’t stop laughing about Pod, haha.

Someone’s got to help me come up with a new fantasy team name…then again, given the lovable antics of Milton Bradley, Milton’s Maniacs seems to never go out of style…

PS: If this report includes current players, look for any 5′ 10″, 160lb shortstops who might have hit 30 homers last year en route to stealing an MVP. I’m looking at you, Mr. Rollins. (There’s my prediction.)

Say it ain’t so Tony!!!! (I doubt him as all the enlaring he did was AFTER he had retired).
As for David Wells, that seems like fat, not muscle – though I am seeing more and more that it is the healing fast thing that grabs the pitchers.
