Neuheisel on Dan Patrick Show
January 2, 2008
As was pointed out to me by blogger Hawaii at Palaver, Rick Neuheisel was on the Dan Patrick show this morning. When my school’s new football coach comes on my favorite radio show, I have to blog about it.
Here’s the link at KLAC’s website, do a Find on this Page for “1/2 Dan Patrick Show Hour 2″, it’s a must-listen for UCLA fans. EDIT: To find to interview more easily, just go to danpatrick.com and click on Interviews.
Neuheisel was very entertaining during the interview, talking about his love for UCLA, saying he will never use the word “pool” again, saying he was at the Rose Bowl just to see the game (not for strategical reasons, as Dan tried to get him to admit), and dropped the term “passion bucket” which I will now try to use in everyday conversation.
Don’t use Hawaii as an excuse to leave the little guys out

Yes, Hawaii looked terrible last night. Yes, they were completely dominated by Georgia and were overmatched in all parts of the game.
But that doesn’t mean that we should keep the non-BCS schools out of BCS bowl games.
May I remind you that schools from non-BCS conference are 2-1 in BCS bowl games:
2005: Utah destroyed Pittsburgh 35-7
2007: Boise State beat Oklahoma
2008: Hawaii was dominated by Georgia
It’s a small sample size, but Hawaii has been the only one of the 3 non-BCS teams to look horrible. We should not leave non-BCS teams out in the future because of Hawaii.
It’s bad enough that these teams already don’t have any theoretical chance at all at a national championship like other sports because there’s no playoff system. But to not give them at a chance at a BCS bowl game would be beyond unfair.
